How to Dress for a Job Interview

Couple of days before your job interview and instead of worrying about what to answer to your interviewer, you are more concerned about what to wear on that day. In a way, it can be positive since it can only indicate that you are really holistically prepared for your interview. On the other hand, it could also mean that you are paying more attention on what is superficial (though, your look will really matter). Hence, in order to speed up your decision-making process, here are some style suggestions (as well as clothing pieces that you can buy) that could be of help.

1. Printed Top, High-waisted Pants and a Blazer (can be worn as an overcoat)

This printed sleeveless can be an off choice for an interview, but with the addition of a blazer, it becomes
highly appropriate (not to mention fabulous).

You can tuck the top in (as seen in the 2nd picture) or you can tuck it out. A pair of red or black pants is perfect for this or you can wear a pencil skirt (with or without stockings) if you desire.

If you notice, I added a silver belt with stones to create an illusion of a peplum top (and to define the waist). And of course, don't forget to accessorize (yes, the belt is part of the accessories).

2. Sheer Asymmetrical Top and Jumpsuit or Romper

Again, it is all about mixing and matching different pieces of clothing that look great together. Just like this ensemble, the tangerine jumpsuit (seen in the 2nd picture) can raise eyebrows when worn in a job interview. However, if it is styled right, it can turn out to be uniquely chic. For example, you can add a belt and a blazer . For this look, I added the asymmetrical sheer top and added just the right amount of accessories to style it up. You can still wear a coat if you want to.

3.  The Classic Black Dress and a Coat

Who says you can't wear a dress during an interview? Well, if you have been told about that, it is time to abandon such idea. Get your black dress in your closet, wear a coat, add some accessories and you are ready to shine fabulously in your job interview.

4. Invest in a flexible and stylish long sleeves or tunics .

I fell in love with this top the moment I saw it. I know that I can dress it down with a pair of distressed denim shorts (check out our distressed, acid-washed and ombre shorts here: Fashion Power and Tropical Dreamz Clothing) and some Chucks or Dr. Martens boots . I can also dress it up to be be appropriate for a job interview.

First, I mixed the classic black dress with the black top with lace detail (just don't wear the head piece during the interview). Second, I paired the lace top with a pair of black pants and a touch of silver with the addition of the belt.

Preparing what to wear for your job interview doesn't mean that you need to splurge on buying a new dress or a head-to-toe look. You can check what you have in your closet and just try to experiment. Hopefully, what I've presented here can give you an idea on how you can use what you already have and save your budget for your blow-out.

Good luck and congratulations in advance! :-)
